This survey was conducted in order to assess the oral health of Brazil and evaluate the services of the National Health Systems. This survey is often referred to as Smiling Brazil 2010 or SB Brazil 2010. Participants were interviewed and received dental examinations in their homes. A total of 37,519 individuals participated in this survey. The survey targeted the age groups of children 5 years old, children 12 years old, adolescents 15-19 years old, adults 35-44 years old, and adults 65-74 years old.

The interview questions centered on the themes of socioeconomic status, the use of dental care services, and self-perceptions of oral health. The examination assessed tooth decay, periodontal condition, dental trauma, dental occlusion, dental fluorosis, and prosthetics.
