Barbados Health of the Nation Survey 2011

The Barbados Health of the Nation Survey (HotN) collected data on demographics, behavioral risk factors (tobacco smoking, alcohol consumption, physical inactivity), medical history, place of treatments and costs incurred, blood pressure and anthropometry, and biomedical measurements (glucose, HbA1c, lipids) for 1,234 participants ages 25 and older. The sampling was island-wide and stratified based on four geographical island subdivisions, similar in terms of social and economic development. The survey consisted of an initial questionnaire and tests of anthropometry and biological markers. The survey aimed to provide information on the prevalence and social determinants of risk factors for lifestyle-related non-communicable diseases. HotN is a follow-up to the national Behaviour Risk Factor Survey 2007.
