Summary

The BSPA was carried out in conjunction with the standard DHS in Bangladesh as part of DHS4, and covered health facilities in areas of the DHS clusters such that the data can be used together. Its primary purpose was to assess family planning services, contraceptive availability, maternal care and the treatment of childhood diseases. It looked at the facility infrastructure (electrical, sanitation, water), equipment available, personnel training, and services provided. Data were gathered through community, facility interview, facility inventory, service provider, and health and family planning fieldworker questionnaires.

GPS readings were done for the survey and verified in July 2000, however the data have not been distributed.
