Summary
The 1997 National Population and Reproductive Health Survey examined the knowledge and behavior of women ages 15-49 concerning childbearing, contraception and reproductive health. It was conducted in 337 counties, cities and districts throughout China and 15,213 women of childbearing age were interviewed. This is the fourth national survey organized by the State Family Planning Commission (SFPC). Subsequent surveys from the SFPC are called National Family Planning and Reproductive Health Surveys.
