The Sri Lanka Census of Population and Housing 1981 covers population, employment, education, housing conditions, and disabilities. The recorded population for Sri Lanka in 1981 was 14,846,750. Census data was collected from short form and long form questionnaires. Long form questionnaires were administered to all urban census blocks and 1 out of 10 rural census blocks. The districts of Negambo and Chilaw were not included in this census.
