Vietnam Population Census 1989 - IPUMS
General Info
Censuses provide population numbers, household or family size and composition, and information on sex and age distribution. They often include other demographic, economic and health-related topics as well. The 1989 Vietnam de jure census collected data through direct enumeration on the subjects of housing, household demographics, employment for those 13 and older, education, household deaths, and fertility for women 15 and older. The majority of the population was enumerated through the short form questionnaire while 5% of the population answered the long form questionnaire. The census day was April 1, 1989. A 5% differentially weighted sample of the enumeration area from the census (2,626,985 individuals) is available through IPUMS International at the University of Minnesota. Dwellings, housing units, and vacant units are not identified in the sample. Fertility variables are not included in the microdata. Refer to the IPUMS website for guidelines on citing database versions.
