Switzerland Federal Population Census 1970 - IPUMS
General Info
Censuses provide population numbers, household or family size and composition, and information on sex and age distribution. They often include other demographic, economic and health-related topics as well. The 1970 Switzerland de facto census, known alternately as Eidgenössische Volkszählung and Recensement fédéral de la population, collected data through face-to-face interviews and self-enumeration on the subjects of housing, household demographics, employment, education, and fertility. Respondents filled out person, dwelling, and building questionnaires. The census day was December 1, 1970 with fieldwork occurring November 25-28. A 5% sample of households from the census (312,538 individuals) is available through IPUMS International at the University of Minnesota. Dwellings are not identified in the microdata. Refer to the IPUMS website for guidelines on citing database versions.
