Summary
Beginning in 1998, the Survey of Household Spending, or SHS, replaced both the Family Expenditure Survey and the Household Facilities and Equipment Survey.
For this year data was collected in the beginning of 2004 for the reference period of 2003 and the sample was 23,869 households. In addition, a supplementary sample of 2,200 Quebec households was included to provide data to the Quebec Ministry of Finance.
Institutional and group populations, residents of Indian reservations, and official representatives of foreign countries were excluded from the survey.
