Iraq Population and Housing Census 1997 - IPUMS
General Info
Censuses provide population numbers, household or family size and composition, and information on sex and age distribution. They often include other demographic, economic and health-related topics as well. The 1997 Iraq de jure and de facto census collected data through face-to-face interviews on the subjects of housing, household demographics, employment, disability, fertility, migration, and education. The census day was October 17, 1997. A 10% differentially weighted sample of households from the census (1,944,278 individuals) is available through IPUMS International at the University of Minnesota. Dwellings and vacant units are not identified in the microdata sample. Three governates from the Kurdish region, Dhok, Al-Sulaimaniya and Arbil, were not included in the census. Refer to the IPUMS website for guidelines on citing database versions.
