Summary
This bulletin, based on the Sample Registration System (SRS), contains data on: 1) estimated birth, death, natural growth, and infant mortality rates; 2) ninety-five percent confidence limits (lower and upper limits) for birth, death, and infant mortality rates; 3) death and infant mortality rates by sex and residence. The report also includes the distribution of sample maternal deaths by cause and the per cent distribution of total maternal deaths in India and among the bigger states. Verbal autopsy (VA) was used for collecting causes of maternal deaths.
