Summary
The 2016 San‘a Nutrition Survey collected data to measure the levels of nutrition and malnutrition present in children ages 6-59 months and women ages 15-49 years in Yemen. The survey also sought to assess child morbidity, coping strategies, child and maternal vaccination, vitamin A supplementation, prevalence of infectious disease, and food security.
The survey utilized the UNICEF Standardized Monitoring and Assessment for Relief and Transition (SMART) methodology for data collection. Child anthropometric measurements and retrospective mortality data were recorded. The sample size included 922 households and approximately 1,161 children under-5 years and 2,398 women of reproductive age.
