Bangladesh - Narail and Jamalpur Districts Rapid Assessment of Avoidable Blindness 2010

The Rapid Assessment of Avoidable Blindness (RAAB) is a rapid survey methodology developed at the International Centre for Eye Health (ICEH). It is a population based survey of visual impairment and eye care services among people aged 50 years and over.
The Bangladesh - Narail and Jamalpur Districts Rapid Assessment of Avoidable Blindness 2010 covered the districts of Narail and Jamalpur in the Khulna and Dhaka states, respectively. Data were collected through household interviews and visual examinations. Subjects with vision-impairing cataract were questioned on barriers keeping them from pursuing cataract surgery, and subjects that had undergone cataract surgery were asked about their operations. 2,390 subjects in Narail and 2,978 subjects in Jamalpur were successfully interviewed and examined.
