Summary
The Global Youth Tobacco Survey (GYTS) is nationally representative survey of students aged 13-15 years of age, in grades 7-9. The GYTS uses a consistent, standard protocol across all participating countries and is intended to generate comparable data. The questionnaire contained 60 multiple-choice questions, including 43 core questions and 15 optional questions. The survey included 25 schools, 68 classes, and a total of 2,319 student participants. The survey covered topics such as tobacco use, smoking habits, knowledge about tobacco, smokeless tobacco products, secondhand smoke, quitting smoking, and tobacco advertisements and marketing.
