Azerbaijan Demographic and Health Survey 2011
General Info
The purpose of this survey is to track the trends in births, child mortality, contraceptive use, health literacy, and other demographic information about the population of Azerbaijan. The survey took place throughout rural and urban areas of the country with the exceptions of some areas with Yukhari Garabakh, Kalbajar-Lachin, and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. This national DHS was modeled after standards developed by Measure DHS.
The data were gathered through in-person interviews in the home and anthropometric measurements. The survey used one questionnaire for the household and one questionnaire for women ages 15 through 49 years. Children and mothers were measured for height, weight, and blood samples were taken to check for anemia. Mothers also had their blood pressure taken. A sample of the household's cooking salt was taken and analyzed for iodine content. The sample size for this survey was 7,704 households and 10,675 women in those households.
