The United States National Health Interview Survey (NHIS) 2014 is part of the NHIS series, a cross-sectional household interview survey that is fielded continuously throughout the year. The NHIS is a major source of information on the health of the population of the United States. The 2014 NHIS covered a wide variety of topics such as family composition, socio-demographic characteristics, injuries, health insurance, income and assets, health conditions, and health behaviors. In addition to the core NHIS questions, the 2014 survey contains supplementary sections with questions on health care access and utilization, food security, hepatitis B and C screening, heart disease and stroke prevention, immunization, mental health, disability, internet access, and non-cigarette tobacco use. For the 2014 NHIS, 13,380 children, and 36,697 adults from 45,597 families in 44,552 households were interviewed.
