The Malawi Demographic and Health Survey 2010 is part of phase 6 of the DHS series, a comprehensive, nationally representative household survey. Covers population, education, health, nutrition, family planning and household characteristics. This survey included HIV testing and reports on the anemia status of women age 15-49 and children age 6-59 months. Other topics covered include fertility levels, marital status, fertility preferences, knowledge and use of family planning methods, breastfeeding practices, nutritional status of mothers and children, childhood illnesses and mortality, use of maternal and child health services, maternal mortality, and domestic violence. A total of 24,825 households were surveyed, including responses from 23,020 female and 7,175 male respondents.
