Nigeria Demographic and Health Survey 2003
General Info
The 2003 Nigeria Demographic and Health Survey (NDHS) had a wider scope than that of the 1999 DHS and includes modules on malaria and testing of salt. The data are also geo-referenced for more detailed geographical analysis.
A representative probability sample of 7,864 households was selected. Two-stage stratified sampling was done, first by clusters (a total of 365 were identified) and secondly by households. Women age 15-49 years were eligible to be interviewed. In a sub-sample of one-third of all selected households, men age 15-59 years were also interviewed.
There were three questionnaires: household questionnaire, women's questionnaire, and men's questionnaire. Questionnaire content was based off of Measure DHS program models for countries with low levels of contraceptive use.
