Summary
The Indonesia Demographic and Health Survey 1987 is part of phase 1 of the DHS series, a comprehensive, nationally representative household survey. Covers education, fertility, family planning and household characteristics.
The provinces of Jambi, East Nusa Tenggara, East Timor, Central Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, Maluku, and Irian Jaya were not included in the survey due to small population sizes. Additionally, some regencies without transportation or facilities such as Kepulauan Talaud in Sulawesi Utara were also excluded.
The sample was drawn from the 1987 SUSENAS which was administered earlier in the year.
