Summary
The Tanzania Multiple Indicator Baseline Survey 1996 is part of MICS1, an international survey initiative to monitor the situation of children and women. The Tanzania MICS 1996 provides data for tracking progress toward Millennium Development Goals (MDGS). In addition to national and urban-rural estimates, the data also provides estimates for the city of Dar es Salaam, nine municipalities, select urban areas, Zanzibar and Pemba. 5,328 household interviews were conducted in Tanzania and 2,376 household interviews were conducted in Zanzibar.
