Summary
Part of the third phase of the DHS, the 1998 Bolivia Demographic Health Survey was a nationally representative health interview survey. The survey was also designed to provide estimates at the subnational level, as well as for urban and rural areas separately. The survey used three questionnaires:
- A household questionnaire collected basic demographic information on household members and visitors, also covering topics such as housing conditions, parental survival, and disability.
- An individual women’s questionnaire for women ages 15-49 covering topics such as reproductive history, breastfeeding, pregnancy, vaccination of children under five years age, contraceptive use, and anthropometry measurements.
- An individual men’s questionnaire for men ages 15-64 collected much of the same information as the individual women’s questionnaire, except for birth history.
