Kenya Household Health Expenditure and Utilization Survey 2013
General Info
The third Kenya Household Health Expenditure and Utilization Survey (HHEUS), conducted from July 9 to August 14, 2013, surveyed 33,675 households on out-of-pocket health expenditures, health insurance coverage, and inpatient and outpatient service utilization. It analyzed health care use particularly with respect to demographic and socioeconomic characteristics. The survey, part of Kenya's National Health Accounts estimation, was designed to be representative at the national and county levels (rather than provincially as in previous rounds of the HHEUS), as well as representative for both rural and urban areas. It uses the National Sample Survey and Evaluation Programme (NASSEP) V sample design, which did not include Mandera, Wajir, and Garissa counties and are thus not included in the sample.
