Homicidal Encounters: A Study of Homicide in Australia 1989-1999
General Info
This report is an analysis of the characteristics of the 3,150 homicidal incidents that occurred in Australia between the years of 1989-1999. The information has been collected annually since 1989 by the National Homicide Monitoring Program of the Australian Institute of Criminology to examine the circumstances of offenders, victims, their relationships and the conditions of the homicides throughout the country. The statistics examine men, women, children, and the elderly as both perpetrators and victims of violence. Other characteristics examined include ethnicity, marital and employments statuses, the use of alcohol or illicit drugs, and alleged motives.
