Brazil National Demographic and Health Survey of Children and Women 2006-2007
General Info
The purpose of this survey was to collect data on the health of women aged 15-49 years and children under 5 years old. The survey gathered data on the topics of reproductive health, sexual behavior, housing conditions, socidemographic characteristics, health status, and health care access.
The data were collected through in-person interviews, anthropometric measurements, and blood samples. The household cooking salt was also tested for iodine content. The survey employed one questionnaire for the household and one questionnaire for women aged 15-49 years. Blood samples were taken from the participating women and children in order to measure the level of Vitamin A and hemoglobin. Height, weight, and waist circumference measurements were also taken. During this survey, 15,575 women interviewed and blood samples were taken from 4,081 children.
