United Kingdom Adult Dental Health Survey 2009-2010 - UK Data Service

The Adult Dental Health Survey (ADHS) is conducted every ten years. The geographical coverage provides estimates for all of the UK. This year's survey was conducted in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland only. The questionnaires are directed to adults (16 years and older). Follow-up dental exams are conducted by National Health Service dentists in some survey participants' homes. There were approximately 11,380 face-to-face interviews and 6,469 clinical assessments conducted. (Participants with complete tooth loss were excluded from the physical examination.) The main topics covered in the interview are dental experiences, attitudes, knowledge, care, and health practices. The physical examination portion of the survey assesses the conditon of the natural teeth and supporting tissues and the use of prosthetics.
