Sweden National Food Consumption Survey 2003
General Info
The purpose of this round of the National Food Consumption Survey was to collect information on the eating habits of children and to assess correlations between these habits and sociodemographic characteristics.
The data were collected through a self-completed food diary and a questionnaire. For the food diary, children or their caregivers recorded foods and beverages consumed over 4 consecutive days. The questionnaire asked about sociodemographic characteristics, activities, and eating habits. Height and weight were also self-reported. Two rounds of data collection occurred. One round was held in the spring and one round was held in the fall. Each data collection period had different participants. The diary for the spring data collection was the same as the fall with added instructions to note when specific preservatives were listed on the labels of the foods recorded.
The samples size for this survey was 590 4-year olds, 889 children in grade 2, and 1,016 children in grade 5.
