General Info
The International Clearinghouse for Birth Defects Surveillance and Research (ICBDSR) is a nongovernmental organization. Around 40 registries submitted data on 39 congenital anomalies for this report. Data range from subnational to multicountry; not every registry's data are included in every table. Additional geographical areas with no listed contributing organizations may be represented in some tables.
The report includes data on fetal exposure to prescription drugs; multiple congenital anomalies (MCA) and teratogens; prenatal diagnosis of Down Syndrome (including maternal age and percentage of terminations in participating countries); information on monitoring systems in varying countries; and cases and rates of selected birth defects among live births, stillbirths, and abortions from most registries' data. This selection may change from year to year.
