Summary
The purpose of this survey was to collect information on births and deaths in order to create population estimates and projections. The data were collected through in-person interviews in the home. Each home was visited four times during the year, with approximately three months between visits. The questionnaires focused on household births, deaths, and some sociodemographic characteristics. The data gathered in the questionnaires was then compared with registered births and deaths tracked by local district offices. The comparisons occurred after the second and fourth visits to the home.
The survey took place in urban and rural areas throughout the country.
