United Kingdom Adult Dental Health Survey 2009-2010 - HSCIC

The Adult Dental Health Survey (ADHS) is conducted every ten years. The geographical coverage provides estimates for all of the UK. The 2009-2010 survey was conducted in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland only. The questionnaires were directed to adults (16 years and older). Followup dental exams were conducted by National Health Service dentists in some survey participants' homes. There were approximately 11,380 face-to-face interviews and 6,469 clinical assessments conducted. Participants with complete tooth loss were excluded from the examination. The main topics covered in the interview were dental experiences, attitudes, knowledge, care, and health practices. The physical examination portion of the survey assessed the conditon of the natural teeth and supporting tissues and the use of prosthetics.
