Summary
Data collecton for the 2009 Vanuatu Census began on November 16, 2009 and was completed in most areas within two weeks. Enumeration took longer in certain areas that were difficult to reach or where transportation was difficult to arrange. Two questionnaries were used, one for households and one for institutions. Institutions included boarding schools, prisons, hospitals, hostels, guesthouses, and passenger boats.
This census provides population numbers, household or family size and composition, and information on sex and age distribution. It also covers the labor force, education, fertility, orphanhood, various social topics, migration, health, and household characteristics.
