The 2016 Senegal Continuous DHS is the fourth survey in a five phase series of surveys planned to take place regularly from 2012-2017. Information on demographics, child and maternal health, family planning, health care use, and immunization were successfully collected from 8,865 women ages 15-49 and  3,527 men ages 15-59 from 4,437 households. The survey was adapted from questionnaires created and conducted for the HealthRise projects in South Africa and India in 2015. Data were collected about facility capacity, equipment availability, pharmaceutical and supply stocks, staffing, and services provided. Patient exit interviews were also conducted with eligible patients at health facilities. First conducted in 1995, the SHeS has been carried out continuously since 2008. In the first stage of each survey, data are collected through face-to-face interviews with adults ages 16+ and children ages 0-15 in private households. A set of core questions is used every year in the adult questionnaire, though rotating modules of additional questions are used for different sub-samples of this population. The same questions are used each year for the child interview. Biological samples and physical measurements are collected in the survey's second stage.</p> <p>For the 2013-2014 SHeS, 9,396 households and 6,733 individuals were sampled. Additionally the SCJS includes information on crime that has not been reported to or captured in police crime statistics.</p> <p>The core sample of the 2014-2015 survey participants was 11,493. The response rate was 63.8%.
