The LSOAs project was designed to track two cohorts of men and women ages 70 and over on changes in health status, physical functioning, and health care use over time. In addition to the LSOA II survivor and decedent interviews for Waves 2 and 3, the LSOA II includes select variables from the following 1994 National Health Interview Survey (NHIS): NHIS core questionnaire, family resources supplement, NHIS-D phase I, and the second supplement on aging.
